Over on our Facebook page, good friend Andra asked: ” If raven is the Worker during the night, does she sleep more during the day?“. We actually have a routine for this.A normal workday morning, after a “normal” night of waking up every 2-3 hours to test blood sugar, consists of waking up, putting on running clothes, and taking the dogs for a 4-5 mile run. After the run, we all have breakfast at 6am, and Raven gets crated for rest until my wife gets back from dropping off the kids at school and running any errands she might need to do. While she is at school and running errands, she has Major with her.
Raven comes out of her crate around 9, and then has until 3:45 when the kids get back home to rest, do some scent work with mom, occasionally go out on an errand, and sometimes go to school to pick up the kids. When I get home, we have dinner, do an evening walk/training session, and typical family stuff for the rest of the evening.
It’s important that each dog gets that crate time to rest up. Raven is up as often as we are at night, and her nights are spent like a soldier, sleeping with one eye open. She gets to settle and sleep in her crate every morning for a few hours, and then rest throughout the day. Major gets crate time after coming back from school to rest up for the day ahead.
Hope this helps, and if anyone has questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
